96
DESCRIPTION

97
The
Regexp::Parser::Perl58
modules provides a subclass of the
98
Regexp::Parser
, a regular expression parser module. The
99
Regexp::Parser::Perl58
module provides an implementation of the
100 parser for the regular expression language as supported by Perl 5.8
101 (with some minor restrictions).

102
Although the
Regexp::Parser
itself provides the facility to parse
103 Perl 5.8 regular expression, this module in addition enables the
104 caller to specify a callback function that is invoked whenever the
105 parser detects an error or wants to issue a warning message.

106
Apart from this additional function, this module provides the same
107 interface as the one applied by the
Regexp::Parser
module. For
108 more information, see the Regexp::Parser manpage.

109

110

111

112
METHODS

113
The
Regexp::Parser::Perl58
module provides same methods as
114
Regexp::Parser
. In addition, the following method is defined:

115

116
[$onerror =] $parser->onerror ([$onerror]);
117
118

119
Gets or sets the callback function that is invoked when an error or
120 warning is issued by the parser.

121

122

123
On setting, i.e. an argument is specified to the method, the argument
124 is set as the error handler function. The argument must be a
CODE

125 reference or
undef
, which represents no-op.

126

127

128
On getting, i.e, no argument is specified to the method, the method
129 returns the current error handler function, if it has been set, or
130 returns
undef
.

131

132

133
The callback function, if specified, is invoked whenever the parser
134 wants to report an error or warning to the application. When invoked,
135 the callback function is given a set of key-value pairs describing the
136 error or warning.

137

138

139
level => "m" / "w"
140
141

142
The level of the error. String
m
represents that it is a fatal
143 error which prevents the regular expression from being effective.
144 String
w
represents that it is a warning.

145

146

147
code => integer

157
The error type. The error type is a string that describes the type of
158 the error as a simple English text. It can be used as the first
159 argument of an
sprintf
call to obtain an error message, with the
160
args
argument, like:

161

162

163

164 sprintf $args{type}, @{$args{args}}

171 and contents of the values depends on the type of the error.

172

173

174
valueref => SCALAR-ref-to-string
